CHPO donates 25.000 to help children in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa.
Swedish watch and sunglass brand CHPO donates 25.000 Euro to award-winning non-profit organization, Skateistan. CHPO designed a collab watch and a pair of sunglasses, of which 100% of the proceeds were donated to help children at Skateistan’s Skate Schools in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa.
CHPO, with roots in the Swedish skate scene, are long time supporters of Skateistan’s work helping at-risk children and youth worldwide. Skateistan provides skateboarding and educational programs for children in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa.
”This collaboratory project with CHPO has not only helped raise awareness of Skateistan but also supported by raising funds to help us reach even more children and youth through skateboarding and education. We are honored to work with and be supported by a brand that shares our ethos of equality, inclusion and empowerment, pushing for purpose through purchase.” says Oliver Percovich, Founder and Executive Director at Skateistan.
In 2015, CHPO designed a watch named Nawroz, which means new day in Dari. In 2017 they also designed the Rumi sunglasses, named after 13th-century Persian poet, Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī. Both the watch and the sunglasses feature a minimalistic design true to CHPO’s Scandinavian design heritage, while the color palette is inspired by Afghanistan’s mountainous landscape. The products has been two of the bestselling products in the line and 100% of the proceeds are donated to Skateistan.
”I’ve skated more or less my entire life and I know the force for good skateboarding can be for young people, building their confidence and creating community. At Skateistan’s Skate School’s your social background, ethnicity or gender doesn’t matter, together the team overcomes all barriers and does absolutely amazing work. What Skateistan are doing for at-risk youth is unique.” says Viktor Telégin, CEO at CHPO.
